ADP passes vote of confidence in Sani, expels 17 NEC members

National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African Democratic Party (ADP) has passed a vote of confidence in the party’s national chairman, Yabagi Sani.

The national secretary, Dr. Steve Uwazie, who briefed reporters on the outcome of the NEC parley in Abuja, announced the expulsion of 17 NEC members, in compliance with Article 52.1 of the party’s constitution.
ADP particularly accused the expelled members, including the former national secretary, Dr. James Okoroma, of indulging in anti-party activities, insubordination as well as causing disaffection and division among members during the last general elections.

The party also summoned Sen. Roland Owie, a leader of the party from the South South, to appear before its disciplinary committee to explain his alleged involvement in the squabble between some state chapters of the ADP and the national leadership.
Pledging NEC’s loyalty to the Sani-led National Working Committee (NWC), the party called on members to rally round the NWC for repositioning ahead of the 2023 general elections.

NEC resolved, among others, to explore all legal means to retrieve the party’s Toyota Sienna vehicle given to Dr. Okoroma, as official car in his capacity as director-general of the Sani Presidential Campaign Council, and all other properties of the party in possession of any other person.

It was also resolved that appointment of new NWC members be upheld pending the ratification of their portfolios, as all standing committees would be dissolved and new ones constituted to enhance efficiency in the management of the party’s affairs.

The expelled NEC members include Esther Oche, Chief lbom lge-Edaba, Temltope Salami, Edobor Oghosa, Alhaji Lateef Amwosaye and Amb. Andrew Daman.

Others are, Ikonwen Osaze, Ehigbor Johnson, Dennis Okatubo, Victoria Goodluck, Dahiru Yabo, Ibrahim Saulawa, Muhammad Ghali, Grema Musa and James Ude.
