Sacked lecturers of IMT, Enugu seek governor Ugwuanyi’s intervention

The five lecturers sacked recently by the management of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu have sought Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s intervention.

They maintained at the weekend in Enugu that their dismissal “following our participation in the national strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) in December last year is contrary to the claim by the school authorities that we had bad records.”

In an April 8, 2019 letter signed by the chairman, governing council of the school, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo, the chapter ASUP Chairman, Ifesinachi Onuaguluchi; General Secretary, Pascal Amu; Publicity Secretary, Uche James Amujielo; Financial Secretary, Victor Aniugo; and Assistant General Secretary, Chekwube Chibuzor were disengaged.

Two others, Chinwenite Ugwu and Philemon Agu, were however, suspended for six months, demoted to Lecturer I and II and placed on half salaries.
