Apapa Port Security Gets Boost as Customs, Navy Renew Partnership

The Nigeria Customs Service’s Apapa Command has partnered with the Western Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy to enhance operational collaboration and improve security in the maritime domain. The partnership is in line with the three policy thrusts of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, which are consolidation, collaboration, and innovation
During a courtesy visit to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation in achieving the Customs’ mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and security.
The CAC noted that the partnership would enhance the security of the maritime environment, facilitate seamless cargo movement, and support national economic growth. The FOC assured the Command of improved cooperation in securing the maritime domain and supporting national economic growth, commending the Customs for its performance in blocking revenue leakages and surpassing national revenue targets.
The partnership is expected to strengthen port security, enhance trade facilitation, and promote economic development in Nigeria.
