The Police Service Commission (PSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting ethical standards and combating corruption in Nigeria’s public service. During a courtesy visit from the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria, the PSC pledged to strengthen its partnership with the Academy to enhance ethical training and promote integrity in the public sector. Leading the delegation, the Provost of the Academy, Professor Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, stated that the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with the PSC in building public trust, promoting accountability, and reinforcing the virtues of integrity in the public service. He commended the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), mni, describing him as a “beacon” in the fight against corruption whose contributions continue to strengthen the ICPC’s mandate.
The Academy also shared its 2026 training programmes with the Commission, seeking mutual support towards attitudinal change and capacity building.
In his response, the PSC Chairman welcomed the partnership and reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to expose its staff to ethical standards and the dangers of corrupt practices. Drawing from his experience as a former Director of Investigation at the ICPC, he stressed that “successful prosecution of corruption cases depends on the diligence of the investigator,” and underscored the critical need for training and retraining in investigative ethics.
