APC youths reject NWC’s micro zoning of N’Assembly leadership

All zonal and state youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rose from an emergency meeting yesterday in Abuja in serious condemnation of the zoning arrangement adopted by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) particularly in respect of the National Assembly leadership positions.

A meeting of the Forum of APC Youth Leaders yesterday asked for immediate convening of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to properly address the issue of micro zoning, which it described as a recipe for chaos.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, its Chairman, Terver Aginde, pointed out that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) undermined independence of the legislature by imposing the micro zoning formula without consultations.

“While we agree with the initiative to determine National Assembly leadership within defined parameters of zoning and ranking to ensure stability and discipline within the ranks of the party, we must do so without undermining the independence of the legislature,” they said.
