The Federal Government has acquired a state-of the-art aircraft’s firefighting simulator worth N5.4 billion (£11.5 million).
The equipment was on Monday inspected and tested by Nigerian officials in London ahead of their shipment to Nigeria.
Head of delegation and Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, described the safety tool as very important to airport operations.
The development comes on the heels of a fire incident at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, Imo State that destroyed the arrival terminal on Monday.
Expectations are high that the new training equipment, set to be delivered to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, would boost capacity of firefighters at airports nationwide.
