MWUN Bids Farewell to Comrade Keshinro, a Labor Icon
By prince Benson Davies
The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Comrade Keshinro, a renowned labour leader and champion of workers’ rights. In a solemn ceremony, the union celebrated the life and legacy of Comrade Keshinro, who dedicated his life to fighting for the welfare and interests of maritime workers. With fond memories and respect, the MWUN honoured the departed labour icon, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to the union and the labour movement.
According to the statement, Keshiro was tough, resilient, and loyal before his glorious exit on December 2nd, 2024, after a brief illness.
Comrade Wasiu was a dedicated and committed trustee of the union who was exceptional and diligent in his duties.
Keshinro was very humorous, soft spoken, and not quick to anger. He would always beam with soft smiles when you looked deep into his eyes—a lovable personality he was.
He was one of the eggheads in the Dockworkers Branch of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria before he was elected into the office of trustee at the national headquarters.
He was indeed a thoroughbred Maritimer, whose outstanding qualities cannot be overemphasized. He was married with children and grandchildren. May he find solace in the right hands of the Almighty Allah, who will give his immediate family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
There’s no doubting the fact that the President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, fnli HFCPSP, and his entire executives, members, and staff of the Union will continue to remember him and the vacuum he has created amongst his senior colleagues, contemporaries, friends, friends and subordinates.
Far Thee Well, Comrade Wasiu Keshinro, the loyal Comrade and Trustee of the Union!
