10 die in Ogun, Auchi-Okene road accidents

Multiple road accidents in Ogun State and the Auchi-Okene road at the weekend have claimed the lives of 10 persons.

While five persons died yesterday along the Auchi-Okene highway, another five persons were confirmed dead in a road accident at Olorunsogo village in the Kobape-Siun axis on the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway.

Spokesman, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the Ogun incident while Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Edo, Anthony Oko, confirmed the Auchi-Okene accident, saying it happened about 11a.m. at Jattu junction in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.

Akinbiyi explained that the Ogun accident occurred about 1:37pm, saying excessive speeding and loss of control on the part of a Nisan Primera car caused the accident.

According to an eyewitness, the car marked KTU 875 DP lost control, somersaulted and rammed into a stationary Volvo truck marked LAR 119 YD, parked-off the road from behind.
